The Uttar Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam has taken a major step in automation of metering and billing (AMR) of 3,200 high tension industrial consumers in the command area of the Nigam.
The area comprises the following districts: Panchkula, Ambala, Yamuna Nagar, Kurukshetra, Kaithal, Karnal, Panipat, Sonepat, Rohtak, Jhajjar and Jind.

Chandigarh: Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda has approved Rs 15.30 crore under the special package for the flood-affected areas for civic bodies of Bhiwani, Kaithal and Sonepat districts.
An official spokesman said here today that under the special package for the flood-affected area scheme, Rs 40 crore had been earmarked during the current financial year.
CHANDIGARH: The Haryana Government has devised Rs.25-crore plan for preventing floods in Kaithal district, said State Public Works (Building and Roads) and Public Health Engineering Minister Randeep Singh Surjewala on Tuesday.
Several villages in Barara area are facing a flood threat after the Dadpur-Nalvi canal, which passes through Ambala, Kurkshetra and Kaithal districts, breached at several points and flooded the fields in Adhoya and nearby villages.
Locals said the canal was dug in 2004 on an assurance that it would irrigate the parched lands of the three districts.
CHANDIGARH: The flood situation in Haryana worsened on Thursday as Kaithal district authorities called in the Army to assist in rescue and relief operations after seven villages -- Tatiana, Khushal Majra, Baupur, Hemu Majra, Lalpur, Seo-Majra and Bhatian -- got flooded due to a breach on both sides of the Ghaggar river in Tatiana village.

After coming up with organic wheat around three years ago, the state is now experimenting with these crops.

Kaithal: A spell of rain this afternoon in Kaithal and various parts of the district accompanied by high-velocity winds not only provided much-awaited relief from prevailing scorching heat but also added to woes of people, as it caused heavy losses to electric installations in the Keorak area of the district.
