Better late than never. After a long delay, Assam is poised to make rapid strides in freshwater prawn cultivation. Pilot projects in the state have dispelled doubts over the feasibility of fresh water prawn farming in this region.

According to sources in the Fisheries Department, fresh water prawn will be available in the state very soon.

GUWAHATI, March 31

Two labourers were killed and another seriously injured in a landslide in Kamrup (Rural) district today, police said.

The three labourers were engaged in earth cutting at Garurachal Hills near Poa Mecca Dargah in Hajo town of the district when the landslide took place and the two labourers were crushed to death and another critically injured.

The dead labourers were identified as Ajit Bezbar
