A 10-day Japanese Encephalitis vaccination campaign got underway today in Kamrup district. R S Jain, Deputy Commissioner, Kamrup officially declared the campaign open at a ceremony held at Majirgaon LP School under Azara block PHC.

Nearly 200 students along with their parents attended the inaugural function held under the chairmanship of BEEO Rani, according to a press release here.

In order to combat the threat of Japanese Encephalitis, the Kamrup District administration has chalked out plans to vaccinate all children between one to fifteen years of age.

The vaccines would be provided free of cost and would be administered by people specially trained for the purpose.

In view of the Government vaccination programme against Japanese Encephalitis from May 4-15 in Kamrup (Metro) district, the administration under Section 144 CrPC has prohibited voluntary organisations, and private doctors and individuals from doing vaccination on their own before 28 days or after the Government programme, an official release said.
