New Delhi: The east district police has arrested two persons, who allegedly planned to sell a leopard skin, at the Pandav Nagar area on Wednesday. They were caught after constable Yashpal received information that the two were to carry out the illegal activity near a Mother Dairy, Pandav Nagar.

Gurgaon: A female leopard was illegally captured by forest officials near Gurgaon on Saturday night after it reportedly killed the pet dog of the owner of a farmhouse on the Gurgaon-Sohna Road.

Figures are shocking, and alarming too. Nearly 346 leopards have disappeared from the Himachal’s forests, including protected areas, in the last 14 years. At least 171 of them may have died a natural death or due to injuries, but a large number of these were killed by poachers, or by villagers presuming these to be maneaters.

Palanpur: A leopard was killed by angry villagers of Tirth village in Vav Taluka in Banaskantha district on Sunday after it injured at least nine villagers, including a forest beat guard, police said. The shocking incident took place in presence of more than 30 police jawans and a dozen forest officials.

KOCHI: People in Edayar are gripped by fear. Though the four-day long search for the leopard has come to an end, the people are terror-stricken.

The police and the authorities concerned have ruled out the presence of any man-eater in the vicinity. But the locals believe that the leopard will strike any moment and are determined to capture it all by themselves.
