Pune MHADA-CITY KHORWADI: Low-cost housing project on 100 acres

A 100-acre plot in Khorwadi village in Daund Taluka, meant for a mega, low-cost housing project, has been recently handed over to the Maharashtra Housing and Area Development Authority (MHADA).

The project will come up on a grazing area but the villagers seem unaware of the project.

The flats will come up under the Basic Service For Urban Poor (BSUP) scheme and will be funded by the Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission (JNNURM).

Chandigarh: The Haryana government would provide land to the Haryana Housing Board for construction of 38,000 houses in the state for people belonging to economically weaker sections of society in both urban and rural areas. The land in urban areas would be provided on collector rates and in rural areas, it would be given on floor rates.

Mumbai: With the assembly elections in sight, it is announcement time for the Maharashtra government. After two packages for Konkan and North Maharashtra and huge hike in salary for doctors and other state government employees, the state cabinet on Thursday announced six lakh houses for the rural population Below Poverty Line (BPL) in the next three years.

While the government is yet to begin allotment of the 8,000-odd low-cost homes built last August under the Rajiv Gandhi Awas Yojna, it has already dropped its slum relocation project at Deramandi since it falls in the Ridge area.

Apart from Deramandi, two slum relocation projects at Jonapur and Najafgarh are also awaiting clearance from the Environment department.

NEW DELHI: The Centre will formulate a new scheme for slum dwellers and the urban poor in an effort to promote a slum-free India in the next five years. The Rajiv Awas Yojana will focus on according property rights to slum dwellers and urban poor by the States, providing basic amenities and enabling the construction of houses through access to subsidised credit.
