Order of the Supreme Court of India in the matter of Goa Environment Federation Vs Union of India & Others dated 17/01/2017 regarding imposing uniform ban on fishing by all fishing vessels in the Indian Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) beyond territorial waters. The afore-stated fishing ban is proposed for a period of 61 days. Court has been informed by the Additional Solicitor General, that all State Governments and Union Territories, other than the State of Kerala, have agreed to the afore-mentioned duration of uniform fishing ban within their territorial waters.

Order of the National Green Tribunal (Southern Zone, Chennai) in the matter of Nature Trust & Others Vs State of Tamil Nadu & Others dated 01/09/2016 regarding encroachments by the fishermen in beach area in S.No. 12 classified as Village Site (Grama Natham), Shozhinganallur, Kancheepuram District, Tamil Nadu.

Order passed by the Central Information Commission in the matter of Kanchi Kohli Vs PIO, M/o Environment & Forest dated 13/05/2016 regarding Shailesh Nayak Committee report. Kanchi Kohli, associated with Centre for Policy Research sought on 22.2.2015 from the MoEFCC a copy of the report of Shailesh Nayak Committee, file notings and minutes on the Coastal Regulation Zone (CRZ). Report was denied and Kanchi Kohli approached this Commission. 

Order of the United States District Court in the matter of Budha Ismail Jam & Others Vs International Finance Corporation dated 24/03/2016 regarding environmental and social harm caused by the coal-fired Tata Mundra Power Plant to the marine ecosystem, to the quality of the air, to plaintiffs’ (fishermen and farmers) health, and to their way of life.

Complaint dismissed. The World Bank's International Finance Corporation (IFC) is shielded by immunity and cannot be sued in the United States, the U.S. District Court judge ruled.

The Department-related Parliamentary Standing Committee on Science & Technology, Environment & Forests, present this Two Hundred Seventieth Report on "Environmental issues of Kerala in General and Kochi/Ernakulam in particular".

Traditional fish workers and trawl operators in Kerala, long at loggerheads, have framed a code of responsible fishing practices. The article argues that this landmark agreement between two hitherto irreconcilable groups was borne out of a crisis in pelagic fish resources. It also argues that the agreement holds important lessons for multi-stakeholder governance in the fisheries sector.
