Order of the National Green Tribunal (Central Zone Bench, Bhopal) in the matter of Yashwant Polkheda Vs State of Madhya Pradesh & Others dated 06/03/2024.

A letter petition was received on the basis of a complaint filed by Yashwant Polkheda against illegal mining in Kali Sindh river in Jirapur tehsil, district Rajgarh, Madhya Pradesh.

The Government of Himachal Pradesh on February 29, 2024, notified the Himachal Pradesh Mineral Policy, 2024. The policy has been framed with the vision to enhance the revenue collection of the State while curbing illegal mining activities.

Order of the National Green Tribunal in the matter of 'News Item titled "Deforestation ill-planned construction and unscientific - illegal mining behind Himachal Pradesh, monsoon catastrophe" appearing in The Hindu dated 25.11.2023' dated 29/02/2024.

One of the issue under consideration in the application is deforestation, ill-planned construction activities, illegal mining along the river beds which are few reasons responsible for natural calamity at Himachal Pradesh.

The issue of pollution and damage of ecosystem due to illegal and unlawful setting up and operation of stone crusher and mining units in various villages in Rewa district have been raised. The air and water bodies are not only polluted by dust but also by illegal and unlawful blasting by illegally procured explosives are causing a threat to human life directly.

The matter was related to mining and stone crushers operating within the eco-sensitive zone (ESZ) of Nandhaur Wildlife Sanctuary.

Order of the Supreme Court of India in the matter of N B Minerals Corporation Limited Vs Union of India & Others dated 27/02/2024.

The matter related to mining of magnesite/dolomite by N B Minerals Corporation Limited,  Didihat, Pithoragarh district, Uttarakhand.

The Supreme Court (SC), February 29, 2024 directed N B Minerals Corporation Limited not to carry out any other construction or mining of magnesite/dolomite.

Order of the National Green Tribunal in the matter of 'News item titled "Jamshedpur Sidgoda mein nadi se avaidh rup se Baalu dhulai ka khel jaari prashashan maun" appearing in Prabhat Khabar dated 24.12.2023' dated 26/02/2024.

Order of the National Green Tribunal in the matter of 'News Item titled "Mafiayo ko kisi ka dar nahi is jile me beroktok ho raha avaidh khanan" appearing in Hindustan dated 22.11.2023". Date of hearing is February 23, 2024.

The application related to large scale illegal mining of sand and natural soil and consequential damage caused to the environment in district Ambedkar Nagar and particularly at Ajmeri Badshahpur, Vargi Nizampur, Ismailpur Beldaha, Faridpur Tappa Haveli, Isauri Nasirpur Bhalu ghats.

In exercise of the powers conferred by clause (jj), (jk), (jl) and (jm) of sub-section (2) of section 35read with Section 16A of the Offshore Areas Mineral (Development and Regulation) Act, 2002 (17 of 2003), the Central Government hereby makes the following rules, namely: These rules may be called the Offshore Areas Mineral Trust Rules, 2024.

The Ministry of Mines on February 20, 2024, issued the Minerals (Other than Atomic and Hydro Carbons Energy Minerals) Concession (Second Amendment) Rules, 2024, to further amend the Minerals (Other than Atomic and Hydro Carbons Energy Minerals) Concession Rules, 2016.
