LUCKNOW: Sumit and Jaimala, the jumbo pair at the Lucknow zoo will soon be leaving it. The Central Zoo Authority's circular conveying its latest instructions on elephants "being called back" from zoos reached Lucknow on Thursday.

New Delhi: The city zoo will soon be bidding farewell to its three elephants. In fact, elephants will no longer be seen in any zoo or circus in the country after the Central Zoo Authority (CZA) issued a notice on Monday to the effect that all of these animals in zoos, numbering about 140, should be sent to national parks, sanctuaries and tiger reserves as soon as possible.

LUCKNOW: Tigers know no boundaries. They keep crossing over from one forest to another along the Indo-Nepal border. The movement of tigers along the border is must if the existing population is to be saved from in-breeding.

Wildlife officials will consider changes to the state

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Forest Department will organise the 54th Wildlife Week across the State from October 2 to 8. During the entire week, entry to wildlife sanctuaries and parks in the State will be free.

Wildlife exhibition, tribal art festival, a day dedicated to elephants, seminar on global warming and competitions for school children are the other major highlights of the Wildlife Week.
