GUWAHATI: The Guwahati Municipal Corporation (GMC) today set an example of sorts when it sealed the plush Dona Planet in Guwahati for flouting car parking norms.

GMC had issued a notice to the management of Dona Planet, asking them to make adequate parking space and comply with all parking norms. When despite issuing a notice no such steps were taken, the GMC decided to seal the building. Yesterday, GMC issued another notice warning the management that the building would be sealed at any point of time.

With parking of vehicles proving to be a major problem in most parts of the city, Delhi Bharatiya Janata Party president Vijender Gupta on Sunday said the Municipal Corporation of Delhi was at an advanced stage of completing many of the projects initiated by it in the past.

“There are 24 multi-level parking projects in various stages of completion and we have already operationalised three such projects,” he said at the release of the party manifesto for the MCD polls.

GUWAHATI: Guwahati Municipal Corporation (GMC) termed the parking fees as illegal. From now onwards no parking fees would be collected from the vehicle owners by the leasee.

According to sources, GMC has abolished the parking fees and if any leasee collects parking fees from the vehicle owners then it will be considered illegal and would be termed as Gunda tax.
