Rajahmundry, Aug. 27: The AP High Court directed the Krishna district collector to stop the clearance of mangroves and mud flats at Polatitippa village of Machilipatnam mandal and asked the latter to send a detailed report on the development following a public interest litigation filed by former secretary of Government of India Dr E.A.S. Sarma recently.

The High Court has stayed the auction of a plot of land at K Gollahalli in Kengeri Hobli.

Following a public Interest Litigation by R Suresh and others, residents of Gollahalli village, the Court has stayed the auction of over four acres land, which was scheduled on August 27, 2008. The petitioners said that the land being an agro zone cannot be auctioned for any other purpose.

Mumbai, July 28 The Bombay High Court on Monday gave the go-ahead for the development and infrastructure projects which do not involve destruction of mangroves in the Navi Mumbai area.
A division bench comprising Justice J N Patel and Justice K U Chandiwal permitted the CIDCO and the Central Railways to go ahead with those projects which pertain to public utility infrastructures, development of land, and cleaning and maintenance of artificial water channels and sewage systems.

CUTTACK: The Orissa High Court on Wednesday directed the authorities concerned not to fell trees or alienate any land, particularly from sanctuaries, national parks, bio-spheres (reserved area) by issuing pattas or by any other means of alienation.

New Delhi: The Supreme Court on Friday issued notice to the Centre and all the States and the Union Territories on a public interest litigation petition seeking compulsory education for all children between 6 and 14.
It also sought a direction to remove discrimination in government-supported schools.

Vasant Kunj residents have raised their voices against the government's "apathy" in constructing a flyover near a natural water body, Neela Hauz. The residents fear the flyover would render the water body dry. The residents want to monitor the construction of the flyover so as to save it.
Connecting the Indira Gandhi International Airport with Mehrauli-Mahipalpur road, the flyover is being constructed by the PWD over the "Neela Hauz" spread over 16,000 sq. km in Vasant Kunj.
