Grievance in the application is against cutting of a hill in Udaipur for construction of a water tank for supply of drinking water.

The NGT directed the Chief Secretary, Rajasthan to ensure that measures are adopted to protect the hills in the area. It should be ensured that even important projects of water supply have to be undertaken consistent with the environmental norms without cutting the hills.

Industries burning copper scrap in RICCO industrial area The National Green Tribunal (NGT) directed a report to be filed on industries in the industrial area operated by Rajasthan State Industrial Development and Investment Corporation (RIICO), district Churu, Rajasthan for illegally burning copper scrap during night time. An application was filed by residents of village Bidasar that the improper disposal of copper scrap was releasing poisonous gases, causing serious health hazards and damaging environment.

Dumping of marble and granite waste in the storm water drain of Mohi village, district Rajasmand.

The NGT, February 22 called for a report on the complaint received from a number of villagers of Mohi village, tehsil and district Rajasmand, Rajasthan. The allegation was that some of the marble and granite units in the area are dumping marble and granite sludge/slurry and other waste in the storm water drain obstructing its flow.

Grievance in the application is against proposed Sambhar festival between 17 – 19 February, 2023 at Sambhar Lake near Jaipur. This will involve activities like kite flying, paragliding, motorcycle expedition. According to the applicant such activities will adversely affect migratory birds and natural habitat of the lake which is a Ramsar site, particularly on account of use of loudspeakers.
