Order of the National Green Tribunal in the matter of Basant Pant, Editor Dehradun Ki Jhalak Vs. State of Uttarakhand dated 09/10/2018. Proceedings have been initiated in this matter on a letter alleging that there is lot of waste dumped in the area from Kaddukhal Bazar to Surkanda Devi Temple in Tehri Garhwal, Uttarakhand. The dumped garbage affects the pilgrims. They find it difficult of breathe and are subjected to several diseases.

Order of the National Green Tribunal in the matter of Joydeep Mukherjee Vs. Chief Secretary, Govt. of West Bengal & Others dated 01/10/2018 regarding pollution of Tarapith area, Birbhum District, West Bengal. The government counsel submits that substantial work has been done which includes construction of the electric cemeteryas well as construction of step-I and Step-II lifting stations of the proposed STPs. National Green Tribunal directs that the status of the progress of the works be filed before the next date of hearing.

The Court has been informed that the work for domestic sewage connections in the town of Goverdhan has already been started and also the ETP at Mansi Ganga has been installed.

A bench headed by NGT Chairperson Justice Adarsh Kumar Goel said the tribunal would deal with only those cases which have an important question relating to environment and ecology.

The police have told the Delhi High Court that loudspeakers were permitted under noise pollution rules which only lay down restrictions, like timings and decibel level, to regulate their use.
