Good quality roads are necessary to maintain traffic system properly and to attract tourists day by day towards the state. Roads play pivotal role always at infrastructure level.

The Government and the World Bank signed yesterday three loan agreements providing additional financing of US$98 million for the Road Sector Assistance Project; US$43 million for the North East Housing Reconstruction Program; and US$10 million for the Education Sector Development Project, the World Bank said.

Various schemes which would provide basic facilities like proper drinking water system in all the wards, good roads, proper drainage system and other civic amenities, at the expense of Rs 40 crore, will be set in motion on October 2 in the City, explained Chairman of Karnataka Urban Water Supply and Sewerage Board R Varthur Prakash.

New Delhi: Commuters heading for holy shrines of Badrinath, Kedarnath, Gangotri and Yamnotri besides Haridwar and Rishikesh can now hope for a better travelling experience from Delhi. Uttar Pradesh government has invited request for qualification (RQF) of constructing a 5.5 km long elevated expressway at Modinagar at a cost of Rs 400 crore. The road network is going to be one of the longest networks on any National Highway in the country.

Jamshedpur, Sept. 7: The Adityapur Industrial Area Development Authority (Aiada) would be constructing 10 parks in the New Housing colony at Adityapur.

Apart from the parks, the authority has also shown interest in developing roads and drainage system in the residential areas falling under the jurisdiction of Jharkhand State Housing Board.

NEW DELHI: Municipal Corporation of Delhi Standing Committee chairman Vijender Gupta has announced that the civic body will soon start work on strengthening and resurfacing of major roads in the city.

The Government has decided to channel all ADB funds for the development of roads that come under the purview of Provincial councils, said Media Minister Lakshman Yapa Abeywardene.

He said the Government has utilised Rs. 24,803 million out of Rs. 50,450 million allocated for road development activities for 2008.

There are complaints that roads coming under provincial councils have not seen development for number of years.
