China said on Friday that it would provide financial assistance to Pakistan for launching its first satellite and a memorandum of understanding in this connection would be signed next week.

India plans to launch its own satellite to monitor greenhouse emissions and the government has already discussed the proposal with Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) chief G Madhavan Nair and his predecessor K Kasturirangan, Environment & Forests Minister Jairam Ramesh told the Rajya Sabha today.
