After getting tremendous response across the cities and villages of Punjab, Nanhi Chhaan, an initiative to save girl child and trees, was launched in the Capital.

The Delhi chapter of the initiative that started from auspicious corridor of Golden Temple in Amritsar, was inaugurated here today in the sacred premises of Sacred Heart Cathedral.

The ministry of environment is planning to set a world record by planting more than 11 million saplings in a single day in addition to planting more than 130 million saplings during spring and monsoon seasons.

MUMBAI: The HC has ordered the BMC to look at the alternate plan offered by Nepean Sea Road residents to save trees from being cut during the road widening. The order came after the residents filed a PIL on Friday.

Tree cutting would mean business for the Delhi Government now. While giving its nod to the Northern Railway to cut 3,000 trees to facilitate the expansion of Anand Vihar Railway Station, the Environment Department of Delhi Government has directed the authorities to send the logs to the crematorium of the Capital.

Mumbai: The Bombay High Court on Thursday directed the Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai and its Tree Authority to state how many trees were cut and how many were planted last year.
