Ajmer: The Atomic Mineral Department (AMD) of India has started an aerial survey in Pushkar region to explore the deposition of Uranium after a preliminary confirmation of radiation in this arid place. A 15-member team including specialists from India, Canada, US and other countries will conduct the aerial survey with high-tech helicopters to find the Uranium deposit in the earth.

JAIPUR: Having failed to open any door for themselves, a group of alleged asbestosis victims from Jhadole in Udaipur are preparing to go on a hunger strike in front of the sub-divisional magistrate's (SDM) office from Wednesday.

The victims are demanding that the medical test done on them by the National Institute of Occupational Health (NIOH), Ahmedabad, last year be made available to them.

UDAIPUR: This is yet another test for the 400-year-old Fathesagar lake in Udaipur. The safety and stability of this lake is said to be uncertain due to the unscientific construction of Vibhuti Park' in the "toe" portion of the dam. Fatehsagar is the largest of the lake system of Udaipur and holds about 427 mcft of water now.

Jaipur: The Aravalli hills in Rajasthan is crumbling to the pressure of illegal mining despite a Supreme Court order earlier this year putting a blanket ban on any kind of mining activity in the hills.

Malaria cases continue to rise in the western districts of the state. The number of cases recorded in three western districts was around 11,000 till last week, half of the total cases of 22,000 reported so far in the state.

Team from Delhi tours western Rajasthan to check the spread of diseases

After a sudden spurt of malaria reported from western Rajasthan for the past few weeks, teams of National Vector Borne Disease Control Programme (NVBDCP) visited the area to take stock of the situation.
According to officials, a team led by BN Thapar, joint director at NVBDCP visited Barmer on Monday.
