The Delhi Jal Board has been found woefully short in providing adequate water supply in the city, with its leaking pipe networks reporting a wastage of a huge 40 per cent of water in its distribution channel. The DJB has also fallen short in meeting its own target of 855 MGD (million gallon per day) by March this year as it could reach the level of 785 MGD by the target date.

NEW DELHI: Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit, who is also the Delhi Jal Board chairperson, on Friday instructed the Jal Board to designate a separate officer for every Delhi Assembly segment to monitor day-to-day water-related issues.

The BWSSB has decided to supply treated water in all areas at 50 per cent of the cost of drinking water that is being supplied now. Treated water supply will begin within six months, Bangalore Water Supply Minister Katta Subramanya Naidu told reporters on Friday.

New Delhi: Delhi Jal Board (DJB) CEO Ramesh Negi on Thursday said that DJB will soon contract leakage management for the city to private enterprises to minimise loss of water.

June 9: The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) has informed the state government that it cannot fund the Godavari water project. The corporation was asked to provide Rs 960 crore to the water board over a period of two years for the execution of the Rs 3,375 crore Phase-I of the Godavari project aimed at bringing 10 TMC of water to the city by the end of 2011.
