Training in integrated water and sanitation planning will be organised in Gaibandha Municipality under a joint project of the Government, UNICEF and DFID, officials said.

The project titled Sanitation, Hygiene Education and Water Supply in Bangladesh (SHEWAB) began in the municipality in July, 2008.

Political parties may run short of any serious issue to raise at the hustings. But, severe shortage of drinking water has become an issue of great concern for the electorate across the State, including Bangalore.

Beginning Friday, Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation will supply water for an additional half an hour from 5.30 pm onwards. A circular was issued on Thursday in this regard after the Gujarat election commission gave a go ahead for the supply.

AMC convinced the state election officer that the half hour supply was a yearly routine during peak summers. The evening supply would be on till June 15.
