Reports of a fortnight-long closure by Uttarakhand had set off panic in Delhi

NEW DELHI: Attempting to quell public alarm over a reported two-week shutdown of water supply to the Capital by the Uttarakhand Government, the Delhi Jal Board on Tuesday clarified that the water utility is yet to receive word about the shutdown.

Capital Development Authority (CDA) on Tuesday restored two million gallons daily (MGD) water supply to Rawalpindi Cantonment Board (RCB) from Khanpur Dam that was cut off in January.

Hyderabad, April 14: The Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board has started commercial sale of canned water.

The Board will initially confine the sale to government offices and institutions.

For provision of clean drinking water, the government of Pakistan has successfully completed the drinking water scheme in Jawaki Shin Dand Village, Frontier Region Kohat, which directly benefits 6,400 persons. The project was identified by the community in a meeting with the local political administration. The APA ordered immediate work on the drinking water scheme.

Residents of different areas in the city are facing acute shortage of water as its supply by WASA came down significantly due to frequent power outages for more than one month.

Safe water will be made available to a population of 58,500 in the Polonnaruwa, District by the Polonnaruwa Water Supply Scheme under the Township Infrastructure Development Project in the year 2011. The project is funded by the Asian Development Bank through the Government of Sri Lanka on the Secondary Towns and Rural Community based Water Supply and Sanitary Project.

Growing population, industrialization, agricultural practices and urbanization have increased the water demand and hence the quantity of wastewater (ww). Availability of drinking water, including different components of daily per capita demand in developing countries, is becoming a serious issue to manage.

CHENNAI: Chennai Metrowater has registered a slight increase in its revenue collection through water tax and charges in 2008-09 compared to the previous year.

However, the Board has recorded a net deficit of Rs.107 crore, which is the difference between the total income and total expenditure.
