The State Government of Haryana on October 30, 2019, has issued Reuse of Treated Waste Water Policy-2019 to maximize the collection and treatment of sewage generated and reusing the treated waste water on a sustainable basis, thereby reducing dependency on fresh water resources and to promote treated waste water as an economic resource.

Order of the National Green Tribunal in the matter of Giriraj Parikrama Sanrakshan Sansthan Vs State of Rajasthan & Others dated 23/10/2019 regarding discharge of sewage from the houses in the vicinity of Mansi Ganga Kund, Govardhan, Uttar Pradesh.The counsel for state of Uttar Pradesh has informed the Tribunal that the entire discharge of sewage from the houses in that area have been connected with a system leading to the sewage treatment plant (STP) which is functional near Radha Kund.

Order of the National Green Tribunal in the matter of Court on its own Motion Vs State of Karnataka dated 21/10/2019 regarding contamination of water bodies at Bengaluru - Bellandur lake, Agara lake and Varthur lake, interalia, on account of discharge of untreated sewage and other effluents from residential/commercial/industrial buildings in violation of statutory provisions of the Water (Prevention And Control of Pollution) Act, 1974, particularly Section 25 thereof.

Office, Hindu Yuva Vahini, Ghonda Vs State of Uttar Pradesh dated 18/10/2019 regarding Bhabhnan Sugar Mill and Distillery at Ghonda, Uttar Pradesh and Bhabhnan Chemical Mill at Faizabad causing pollution by discharging effluents and not managing fly ash.

Order of the National Green Tribunal in the matter of Sushil Raghav Vs Union of India & Others dated 11/10/2019 regarding discharge of sewage and domestic waste into the Radha Kund and Shyam Kund in Village Arita in Mathura District, Uttar Pradesh.

Order of the National Green Tribunal in the matter of Tribunal on its own motion Vs State of Himachal Pradesh & Others dated 10/10/2019 regarding pollution of river Ashwani Khud in Himachal Pradesh. The river was found to be full of plastic. There was accumulation of solid waste in the drains joining the river. The Tribunal in its previous order had called for regular removal and cleaning and installation of trap nets on major rivulets and drains connected to Ashwani Khud.

More investment is needed to make urban waste water treatment plants fit to meet the difficult challenges posed by the impacts of climate change, as well as the presence of antibiotics and other micro-pollutants in waste water, according to a European Environment Agency (EEA) briefing.

Order of the National Green Tribunal in the matter of Stench Grips Mansa's Sacred Ghaggar River With Yogender Kumar dated 01/10/2019 regarding pollution of river Ghaggar.
