Question raised in Lok Sabha on Eco-sensitive Zones, 03/05/2016. The State-wise details of proposals for declaration of Eco-Sensitive Zone around National Parks and Sanctuaries received are at Annexure. So far, the Ministry has approved/notified 257 ESZ proposals covering 404 Wildlife Sanctuaries and National Parks for declaration of Eco-Sensitive Zones. Of the 275 proposals, 220 have been notified in the Gazette of India, of which 187 are draft notifications and 33 are final notifications.

Question raised in Lok Sabha on Cruelty to Animals, 03/05/2016. The enforcement of Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (PCA) Act, 1960 and Rules made thereunder (Animal Protection Laws) is the responsibility of the concerned State Governments / UTs which are empowered to take action in cases of cruelty inflicted on animals. A list of cases registered under the Prevention of Cruelty to
Animals, 1960 during the last three years and persons convicted as provided to Animal Welfare Board of India (AWBI) by the States is enclosed herewith as Annexure A.

Question raised in Lok Sabha on Crop Insurance Scheme, 03/05/2016. The number of farmers covered and claims paid to farmers under various Crop Insurance Schemes viz. National Agricultural Insurance Scheme (NAIS), National Crop Insurance Programme (NCIP) components namely, Modified NAIS (MNAIS) & the Weather-Based Crop Insurance Scheme (WBCIS), during last three years are given in Annexure-I. State-wise details of percentage of sown area covered under crop insurance schemes as against net sown areas during last three years is given in Annexure-II.

Question raised in Lok Sabha on Conservation of Wetlands, 03/05/2016. The Ministry has so far, identified 115 wetlands in 24 States and two Union Territories for conservation and management under the National Wetland Conservation Programme (NWCP). The State-wise list of these wetlands is given in Annexure.

Question raised in Lok Sabha on Compensation for Crop Loss, 03/05/2016. National Agricultural Insurance Scheme (NAIS), Modified NAIS (MNAIS) and Weather Based Crop Insurance Scheme were implemented during Rabi 2012-13 season through Agriculture Insurance Company of India (AIC) and 10 empanelled Private General Insurance Companies. Details of the business including claims reported under aforesaid Crop Insurance Schemes is at Annexure-I. United India Insurance Company Ltd. (UIIC) had not been empanelled to directly undertake Crop Insurance business.

Question raised in Lok Sabha on Tribal Population, 02/05/2016. As per Census 2011, State / UT -wise and tribe-wise details of Scheduled Tribes (STs) in the country are given at Annexure I. Percentage of Scheduled Tribe persons below poverty line, State-wise and at all India level for the year 2011-12 estimated by the erstwhile Planning Commission are at Annexure II. Details of centrally sponsored schemes being implemented by Ministry of Tribal Affairs are given at Annexure III. State / UT-wise details are at Annexures IV to XV.

Question raised in Rajya Sabha on Sewage Treatment Plants for Cleaning of Ganga Rivers, 02/05/2016. 41 Sewage treatment plants development / rehabilitation under 34 projects, having total capacity of 808.23 mld, have been sanctioned in the Ganga Basin States since inception of NGRBA Programme. The List of STP projects sanctioned is given in annexure -1. The list of Proposals received and not yet been approved/sanctioned are given at annexure -2.

Question raised in Rajya Sabha on Power Generation in States, 02/05/2016. The details of sources wise, state-wise and power generation from conventional sources of capacity 25 MW and above, monitored by Central Electricity Authority (CEA), in every state for last five years is given at Annex-I. As per information available with CEA, the details of thermal, gas, nuclear and hydro power projects under construction are given at Annex-IIA, Annex-IIB, Annex-IIC and Annex-IID respectively.

Question raised in Rajya Sabha on Polluted river stretches, 02/05/2016. As per the report published by Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) in February 2015, 302 polluted river stretches have been identified on 275 rivers in the country based on Bio-chemical Oxygen Demand (BOD) levels, a key indicator of organic pollution. The State-wise details are at Annexure-I.

Question raised in Rajya Sabha on Increase in wild tiger count, 02/05/2016. In India, it has shown increasing trend with subsequent estimations which got initiated in the year 2006, wherein count was 1411 in 2006, 1706 in 2010 and 2226 in 2014. The details are at Annexure-I.
