Question raised in Lok Sabha on Sewage Treatment Plants, 26/04/2016. As per the inventorization of sewage treatment plants (STPs) carried out by Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) in 2014-15, out of 601 STPs established in various States and Union Territories, 522 STPs are operational while 79 are non-operational. Statewise details are at Annexure.

Question raised in Lok Sabha on Pollution in Two-Tier Cities, 26/04/2016. The Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) is monitoring ambient air quality in 74 Tier-II cities. The ambient air quality data for the period 2015 pertaining to two-tier cities in the country given at Annexure. Analysis of data shows that 41 cities exceed the ambient air quality standard. In addition these cities are also facing problem of water pollution due to discharges of untreated sewage.

Question raised in Lok Sabha Drought in States, 26/04/2016. During the year 2015-16, Karnataka (both for Kharif and Rabi), Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Odisha, Telengana, Uttar Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh, Jharkhand and Rajasthan, had submitted Memoranda on drought seeking financial Assistance from NDRF. Details regarding the number of districts declared drought affected by these States are at Annexure-I. The details regarding funds demanded and approved during last three years to various drought affected States are at Annexure-II.

Question raised in Lok Sabha on Census of Animals, 26/04/2016. Wild animal census of iconic species like Tiger, Elephant, Rhino and Lions are carried out by the respective State/UT Governments. However, at the national level, Tiger census is carried out periodically. As per the latest census, the estimated population of tiger, elephant, lion and rhinoceros as received from the States is given in the Annexure.

Question raised in Lok Sabha on Adverse Effect of Insecticides, 26/04/2016. The Central Government monitors pesticides residues in various agricultural commodities etc. under the central scheme “Monitoring of Pesticides Residues at National Level” (MPRNL). The annual report of MPRNL for 2014-15 shows that 2.6 % of all samples of commodities contained pesticide residues above the Maximum Residues Limits (MRLs) fixed by the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India.

Question raised in Rajya Sabha on Tree census, 25/04/2016. Forest Survey of India (FSI) conducts regular inventory of forest and trees outside forests under its National Forest Inventory Programme. The Inventory is conducted by selecting 60 districts randomly on a cycle of two years. On the basis of data collected from these 60 districts, growing stock estimates are generated at National and State levels and the results are published in “India State of Forest Report (ISFR)” on biennial basis. The information as per ISFR 2011, ISFR 2013 and 2015 is given in Annexure.

Question raised in Rajya Sabha on Protection of migratory birds, 25/04/2016. The State-wise details of funds allocated for protection of wildlife, including migratory birds, and their habitat is at Annexure.

Question raised in Rajya Sabha on Polluted Lakes, 25/04/2016. Based on the proposals received from different States, the Ministry has so far sanctioned projects for conservation of 63 lakes in 14 States at a total cost of 1096.09 crores under the NLCP/NPCA. So far, an amount of 635.902 crore has been released for the sanctioned projects and work on 33 lakes has been completed. The State wise details of amount sanctioned and released to the State Governments so far are given in Annexure-I.

Question raised in Rajya Sabha on New Power Plants, 25/04/2016. During the 12th Five Year Plan Period, against the target of 88,537 MW generation capacity additions from conventional sources, 84,990.7 MW has been achieved as on 31.03.2016. The list of the new power projects in conventional sources commissioned during 2012-16 is enclosed as Annex-I. The list of the generation capacity addition target planned for 2016-17 which includes projects in the State of Bihar is enclosed as Annex-II.

Question raised in Rajya Sabha on Electrification of Villages, 25/04/2016. The State-wise number of villages electrified during the last two years are at Annex. As informed by States, there were 18,452 un-electrified census villages in the country as on 01.04.2015. Out of the 18,452 un-electrified villages, electrification works in 7,108 un-electrified villages have been completed as on 31.03.2016. It is targeted to electrify all remaining villages by 1st May, 2018.
