This report explores the interrelationships among rainfall variability, food and livelihood security, and human mobility in a diverse set of research sites in eight countries in Asia, Africa and Latin America. While climate change affects nearly all aspects of food security – from production and availability, to the stability of food supplies, access to food, and food utilization – the Rainfalls research focuses on linkages between shifting rainfall patterns and food production and the stability of food supplies. The report discusses migration in the context of future rainfall variability, food and livelihood insecurity, and presents Rainfalls Agent-Based Migration Model. It also provides analysis of current household migration decisions based on household characteristics and sensitivity to rainfall variability and food/livelihood security.
