The proposed nuclear park in Jaitapur in Maharashtra, which will eventually house six nuclear power reactors and produce about 10,000 mw of electricity annually, has been recommended for clearance by the expert committee of the environment ministry and put up before environment minister Jairam Ramesh for his final decision.
The Navi Mumbai airport project seemed headed for a fresh round of confrontation on Thursday, with the project developer CIDCO showing reluctance in making changes in the design, as suggested by the Environment Ministry, and the ministry, in turn, expressing unhappiness over its rigid attitude.
