Waking up to the urgent need to improve the road connectivity in strategically located areas along the border with China, the Union government has started work on 26 major roads in five States. The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has sanctioned Rs.1,934 crore for strategic road projects, totalling 804 km, for operational use by the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) that guards the 3,488 km India-China border from the Karakoram Pass in Ladakh to Jachep La in Arunachal Pradesh.

Within the next two years Rajasthan will become the world's solar power hub as Reliance Power plans to take up the generation capacity of its newly-opened 40-MW plant at Dhursar village in Pokhran to 300 MW by 2014.
