THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Kozhikode is all set to become the first hunger-free city in the country. For, the Social Welfare Department has embarked on a unique mission to provide free meals to the needy.

The Social Security Mission project, constituted by the Government for the care of the poor, aged, children, women and cancer patients, will be launched on January 26.

Though the Corporation put two autorickshaw- mounted fogging machines out in Mattanchery and Ernakulam areas, the service has not yet reached all divisions.

KOCHI: To save the city from the menace of plastic waste, the district administration and the Kochi Corporation in association with the Kudumbasree units are planning to launch a new plastic waste management project.

As per the project, the Kudumbasree members will collect the plastic waste from houses and shops. The collected waste will be used for recycling and road tarring works.
