ALLAHABAD: The Allahabad High Court on Thursday delivered a judgment pertaining to auction sale of land in rural areas, pursuant to recovery of arrears of land revenue. The High Court, in larger public interest, issued certain directions to be implemented by the Collectors/District Magistrates of the state before issuing sale proclamation to auction the land in rural areas.

The court directed that breach of any direction will not only invalidate the auction sale, but also give cause of complaint against the erring officers responsible for issuance of such proclamation of sale. They will also be liable for initiating contempt proceedings under the Contempt of Court Act, the high court added.
