Guidelines for Implementation of scheme for setting up of over 5000 MW Grid-Connected Solar PV Power Projects with Viability Gap Funding (VGF) under Batch-IV of Phase-II of the National Solar Mission (NSM).

Ministry in consultation with various stakeholders including Industry and States has prepared Draft Policy for Repowering of the Wind Power Projects. Objective of the Repowering Policy is to promote optimum utilisation of wind energy resources by creating facilitative framework for repowering.

India will add 1,504.24 MW of solar power capacity by March 31, 2016 to take the total installed capacity in India to 6,752.45 MW, the Ministry of New & Renewable Energy said.

The commissioned capacity of grid connected solar power plants in India as on 14th January, 2016 is 5129.813 MW. Several States have taken initiatives following the Central Government and framed Solar Policies, to support setting up solar power projects, which had an impact of lowering levelized solar tariff.

Government of India (GoI) has set an ambitious goal of providing uninterrupted power for all homes, industrial and commercial establishments and adequate power for farmers by 2022 through its “24X7 Power for All program”. GoI wants a growing share of the country’s electricity to come from renewable energy.

MNRE has rolled out a scheme plans to set up 25 solar parks, each with a capacity of 500 MW and above; thereby targeting around 20000 MW of solar power installed capacity. These solar parks will be set up within in a span of 5 years commencing from 2014-15 and the solar projects may then come up as per demand and interest shown by developers.

The environmental and social management framework being prepared for utility scale Solar Park projects shall aid in screening, assessment, management of environmental and social impacts at an early stage in project planning.

Geothermal energy is a site specific renewable source of energy specifically suitable for catering to the energy needs of remote/interior localities.

This study conducts a detailed analysis of the existing market framework for renewables at the centre and state level. This includes an analysis of the existing RE policies, market mechanisms, regulatory issues, and technical issues within the different states.

The Ministry of New & Renewable Energy (MNRE) has released guidelines for the development of solar parks under Jawaharlal Nehru National Solar Mission (JNNSM).
