Ministry of New and Renewable Energy will be the nodal ministry for use of offshore areas within EEZ (Exclusive Economic Zone) of the country.

The Policy aims at mainstreaming of biofuels and, therefore, envisions a central role for it in the energy and transportation sectors of the country in coming decades.

The Scope of these Guidelines is to provide the necessary policy framework and mechanism for selection and implementation of 2000 MW Grid-connected solar PV power projects with Viability Gap Funding under Phase-II, Batch-III of JNNSM.

The draft National Renewable Energy Act 2015 to promote the production of energy from renewable energy sources and ensure energy security has been released for public comment by the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy

MNRE has rolled out a scheme plans to set up 25 solar parks, each with a capacity of 500 MW and above; thereby targeting around 20000 MW of solar power installed capacity. These solar parks will be set up within in a span of 5 years commencing from 2014-15 and the solar projects may then come up as per demand and interest shown by developers.

The Scope of these Guidelines is to provide the necessary policy framework and mechanism for selection and implementation of 2000 MW Grid-connected solar PV power projects with Viability Gap Funding under Phase-II, Batch-III of JNNSM.

Due to the decline in the upfront capital cost, the cost of generation of solar power generation plant has become competitive with many conventional power generation technologies.

Government of India through introduction of this Policy, envisions to work in close collaboration with the State Governments towards large scale deployment of wind power in the country so as achieve the target of 60,000 MW (cumulative) by 2022.

The National Mission on Small Hydro will be a joint initiative of the Government of India and State Governments to enrich remote and rural areas in power generation. The mission would give unique opportunity of entrepreneurship development, lively hood opportunities in rural areas and would be an effective tool to achieve 24X7 Power to all.
