Question raised in Rajya Sabha on Premature deaths due to air pollution, 11/02/2019. CPCB has identified 102 non-attainment cities, violating National Ambient Air Quality Standards (NAAQS), based on an analysis of ambient air quality data of the period 2011 – 2015 and WHO report 2014/2018. State-wise list of non-attainment cities is at Annexure.

Question raised in Rajya Sabha on Polluted stretches of the rivers, 11/02/2019. The Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) in association with the State Pollution Control Boards (SPCBs)/Pollution Control Committees (PCCs) monitors the water quality of rivers across the country through a network of monitoring stations under the National Water Quality Monitoring Programme.

The State/UTs-wise details of funds released and utilised under Compensatory Afforestation Funds ,Green India Mission and National Afforestation Programme for the last three years and current year are given in Annexure-I, II and III respectively.

The details of some of the major weather extremes in India in the recent years, as reported under India’s Second Biennial Update Report (2018) to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) is at Annexure-I.

Question raised in Rajya Sabha on Human animal conflict, 11/02/2019. The Animal Welfare Division of this Ministry does not maintain details regarding rate of decrease in the population of animals and increasing rate of human-animal clash, especially attacks on human beings by elephants, stray dogs and monkeys, etc. Management of wildlife (Elephant, Monkeys) is the responsibility of the concerned State/UT Governments. However, Project Elephant Division, MoEF&CC has compiled the details regarding the deaths of human beings by elephant attack are given in Annexure.

Question raised in Rajya Sabha on Funds for increasing forest cover, 11/02/2019. The State/UTs wise details of forest cover along with percentage as per ISFR-2017 is given in Annexure-I. National Afforestation Programme (NAP) of the Ministry of Environment & Forests is a Centrally Sponsored Scheme for afforestation and eco-restoration of degraded forests and adjoining areas through people’s participation.

Question raised in Rajya Sabha on Death of tigers, 11/02/2019. There were fewer tiger deaths in 2018 as compared to 2017. The State-wise details of tiger deaths during the years 2016, 2017 and 2018, as reported by States, are at Annexure-I.

Question raised in Rajya Sabha on WHO report on most polluted cities, 07/01/2019. Ambient air quality is monitored at 731 locations covering 312 cities/towns in 29 States and 6 Union Territories across the country under National Air Quality Monitoring Programme (NAMP). WHO Report has made assessment of Air quality data up to 2016. Comparison of Air Quality Data from WHO report for 2016 with NAMP data for 2017 reveals that the levels of PM2.5 and PM10 have decreased in 2017 in all the above-mentioned 14 cities for which NAMP data is available (Annexure).

Question raised in Rajya Sabha on Poaching of animals, 07/01/2019. Details of animal poaching incidents in various parts of the country are not collated in the Ministry. However, cases as reported and made available to Wildlife Crime Control Bureau for the last year by the State Enforcement Agencies is enclosed as Annexure-I.

Question raised in Rajya Sabha on High pollution areas under NCAP, 07/01/2019. In order to address the increasing air pollution across the country in a comprehensive manner, Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change has finalized the National Clean Air Program (NCAP) as a pan India medium term five-year national level strategy to tackle the increasing air pollution problem across the country.
