Grievance in the application is dumping of solid waste, plastic bags, polyester clothes waste and other non-biodegradable material in Sidhwan Canal and a report was called from a joint Committee in which it was found that there was throwing of waste material into the canal.

Punjab filed its report on the issue of water pollution in river Satluj near Gurudwara Patalpuri Sahib at Kiratpur Sahib, district Rupnagar.

The NGT, February 2, 2023 had directed the Chief Secretary, Punjab Pollution Control Board and District Magistrate, Rupnagar to look into the issue raised and take remedial action in accordance with law.

Taking into consideration a petition filed against illegal axing of trees in Ludhiana, the National Green Tribunal vide order, March 17, 2023 directed the Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (HoFF), Punjab to look into the matter and take remedial action and file an action taken report to the court within two months.

A committee was constituted under the Chairmanship of Chief Conservator of Forest (Plains), Punjab. The committee submitted its report to the NGT, June 1, 2023.

Reply by the Municipal Council, Banur in Original Application No. 490 of 2022 in the matter of Sunaina Vs State of Punjab & Others.

The National Green Tribunal (NGT) had directed Municipal Council Banur, Zirakpur and Rajpura to ensure supply of potable water complying with the parameters as prescribed in IS:10500:2012 to the residents. MC Banur, Zirakpur and Rajpura were asked to identify all the water supply pipelines which are leaking and either replace or provide new water supply lines.

A joint committee comprising the Punjab Pollution Control Board and the District Magistrate, Faridkot was directed by the NGT, February 22 to look into the allegation of pipelines being laid for disposal of cattle and dairy waste which is being discharged in open area adjoining Kotkapura-Faridkot main road near a public school causing damage to environment. District Magistrate, Faridkot was asked to be the nodal agency for compliance and coordination.
