Faced with criticism that it had rushed through green clearances to many projects by ignoring environmental concerns, the government may next week clear Rs 13,000 crore for its much awaited 'Green India Mission' which aims to enhance carbon sinks through large-scale forestry across the country.

"Final draft of the Green India Mission (GIM) and proposal to get funds for it are ready. It will go to the Cabinet soon, possibly next week," environment and forests minister M Veerappa Moily said.

नई दिल्ली। पर्यावरण को प्रदूषण मुक्त करने की मुहिम को गति देने के लिए केंद्र सरकार ने सड़क के दोनो तरफ छायादार पेड़ लगाना अनिवार्य कर दिया है। इसकी शुरुआत गांवों को मुख्य मार्गों से जोड़ने वाली सड़कों से की जा रही है। ग्रामीण विकास मंत्रालय की प्रधानमंत्री ग्राम सड़क योजना (पीएमजीएसवाई) की सड़कों के दोनाें ओर वृक्षारोपण किया जाएगा। केंद्र ने स्पष्ट कर दिया है कि वृक्षारोपण होने के बाद ही राज्यों को पीएमजीएसवाई की सड़कों का पैसा जारी किया जाएगा।

Proposal to buy, use land for afforestation programme
