The Mines and Geology Department, Haryana is committed to stop illegal mining in the Aravalli hill area of districts Faridabad, Gurugram and Nuh. The department has taken action in 9 cases out ouf 44 complaints received by it on illegal mining in Aravali hills area.

The matter related to illegal sand and stone mining taking place in the Aravalli range in the districts of Faridabad, Gurugram and Nuh in Haryana. Pandala Hills near Gairatpur Bas village, Gurgaon has been severely degraded on account of illegal mining, but no steps have been taken for its ecological restoration. Evidence of fresh illegal mining in Pandala Hills was found on a site visit.

Grievance in the application is against illegal mining in forest area by M/s Govardhan Mines and Minerals, Hisar at Dadam Hills, Tosham, district Bhiwani and also unscientific mining outside the forest area in violation of EC conditions. It is stated that there are FIRs, complaints and letters pointing out such illegalities but no remedial action is taken.

Order of the National Green Tribunal in the matter of Dr. Arun Kumar Sharma Vs Ministry of Environment Forests & Climate Change & Others dated 10/03/2021.

The application challenges the Zonal Master Plan, 2030 (ZMP 2030) for the Mount Abu Eco-sensitive Zone (ESZ).

The impugned ZMP 2030 was notified on October 29, 2015 after approval by the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEF&CC) September 28, 2015. The petitions challenged the same as being inconsistent with the ESZ notification June 25, 2009.

Written arguments on behalf of Bharat Kumar Jain for the protection and preservation of the ecological area of Mount Abu, situated in the Aravalli range in Rajasthan.

In terms of the notification of Eco-sensitive zone of Mount Abu, various construction activities were absolutely prohibited and accordingly when it was observed that under the garb of renovation various construction activities were going on by the politically and financially influential people, the application was filed, raising a substantial question relating to the environment.
