With an area close to 19,000 hectares in 78 villages in Kalyan and Bhiwandi under its control, the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) is sitting on a potential goldmine.
Mumbai, May 1 The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) is planning a 100-km network of monorail in the Mumbai metropolitan area in next seven years. The project is likely to cost about Rs 12,000 crore.
Mumbai Bhiwandi constituency has problems ranging from infrastructure development of the urban area to solving the plight of the tribal people. The constituency has six assembly segments, Bhiwandi East, Bhiwandi West, Bhiwandi (rural), Shahpur, Kalyan West and Murbad. Thane: Contaminated water from four borewells in Bhiwandi has triggered a spate of gastroenteritis. The Bhiwandi-Nizampur Municipal Corporation (BNMC) has sealed the borewells. Two were dug by BNMC and the other two by a local resident, Mamuchi.
NEW DELHI: The up-and-coming industrial township of Bhiwadi in Rajasthan has invited industrialists to set up units and take advantage of a world-class infrastructure that has come up there. The Rajasthan Government has also decided to facilitate investments worth Rs.30,000 crore and promote it as a major industrial hub in North India.
Farmers from Bhiwqandi tehsil protested against the state government for their land-acquistion. They staged a rasta-roko agitation under the leadership of Shiv-Sena MLA, Yogesh Patil and ZP chairman, Kapil Patil near Pise-Panjrapur purification plant on the Nashik-Mumbai national highway no 3 in Bhiwandi tahsil. The farmers are against reservation of their land for setting up of MIDC by the state Government. Government had earlier notified on 28 January of the land acquisition that would affect farming activity on thousands of acres of farmland.
The lives of the people of Bhiwandi are at stake due contaminated water they are receiving from the corporation. The Citizens have lodge several complaints with the corporation in this regard. After receiving complaints, the water supply department merely dug up the ground to find the source from where the water getting contaminated. According to the Sagir Ahmed, a resident of Mahada colony said that it was more than a year they were drinking muddy water.
