Order of the Supreme Court of India in the matter of ACC Limited Vs State of Chhattisgarh & Others dated 11/01/2022. The matter relates to the computation of the water consumption from April 2010 to March 2020 and the amount payable thereon.

This study investigates a community-owned and managed model of solar irrigation (led by women self-help groups) implemented by Professional Assistance for Development Action (PRADAN) in the Bastar district of Chhattisgarh. It aims to assess the impact of irrigation access on agricultural incomes.

The unit claimed the land of about 137 hectares has been owned by the company since 2000. However, the Joint Committee report said that 51.470 hectares of land (38%) is owned by the company and the rest 68% land is owned by other people.

This study uses data from Remote Monitoring Systems (RMS) of 1131 pumps installed in the state of Chhattisgarh, under the state subsidy scheme, to understand the patterns of utilisation of typical solar pumps in India. As many as 674 pumps were installed in 2016-17 and the remaining during 2017-18.

This study examines Chhattisgarh’s solar pump programme - the Saur Sujala Yojana - to understand the profiles of its beneficiaries. Understanding who is benefiting from the government support would enable informed policymaking to improve the sustainability of solar pumps.
