This is an application filed by the Delhi Jal Board seeking permission for use of 1.6 acres of forest land falling in Sanjay Van which is part of the South Central Ridge area in Delhi to lay 600 MM diameter water pipeline from IIT Gate to Qutab pumping station passing through Sanjay Van for a distance of 1200 meters and which pipeline is the main inlet water carrying pipeline for improvement of the water supply in the Mehrauli Area.

A bench, headed by acting NGT chairperson justice Jawad Rahim directed the DJB to submit a list of illegal borewells in the capital.

The National Green Tribunal (NGT) on Tuesday directed the Delhi Jal Board (DJB) to file the list of both legal and illegal borewells in areas marked as having contaminated groundwater.

Order of the National Green Tribunal in the matter of Rear Admiral A P Revi Vs Delhi Jal Board & Others dated 09/02/2018 regarding supply of treated sewage water for gardening purposes in Vasant Kunj, Delhi. NGT in the Order dated 26/10/2017 had directed DDA/MCD/DJB to ensure the supply of treated sewage water for gardening.

According to Delhi Jal Board officials, the production of drinking water had to be curtailed at all water treatment plants fed from the Yamuna after ammonia levels shot up to 1.6 parts per million
