PUNE: The much-delayed Pune metro rail project got a funding of Rs 10.01 crore in the Union Budget on Thursday. The Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad municipal corporations, that have proposed the project in association with the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation, have already made provisions in their respective budgets for the year 2013-14.

The budgetary head, 'Pune Metro', figures in the list of projects of the urban development department for the first time this year in budget. The total funding of Rs 10.01 crore has been bifurcated into three components.

Only Pick-Up And Drop-Off Points To Be Provided At Stations

New Delhi: There will be no parking at Phase III Metro stations coming up along Ring Road and Outer Ring Road as space is at a premium in these areas. Instead, there will be designated pick-up and dropoff points at each station, said officials. “A number of stations in line 7, which is the Mukundpur-Shiv Vihar corridor, will be located on Ring Road. Since a parking will require space, we are only planning the station box with utilities. The stations are also being designed to have pick-up and drop-off points,” said a Delhi Metro official.

KOCHI: The general council of Goshree Islands Development Authority (GIDA) held in Kochi on Tuesday decided to entrust the construction of the Rs 97-crore Chathanad-Moolampilly road with the Kerala State Construction Corporation (KSCC). GIDA had earlier planned to give the project to Delhi Metro Rail Corporation ( DMRC).

The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation is going to construct an underground subway across the busy Pankha Road in West Delhi to connect its Dabri Mor Metro station on the upcoming Janakpuri West – Botanical Garden corridor with the localities on the other side of the road.

A statement by DMRC said this subway will come up just before the Dabri Mor circle on the left side of Pankha Road. Thus entry to Dabri Mor station would be provided from both sides of Pankha Road.

The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has submitted a detailed project report of the 11km alignment from Shastri Park to Trilokpuri to the Delhi government. On Wednesday, transport minister Ramakant Goswami said government sanction for the project was expected to come through soon. “We are hoping that the project will get sanction within the next three months, so that work on the monorail can start,” said Goswami. Officials said the project report had set 2017 as the deadline for completion if work starts this year.
