Acquiring land for the Kochi metro-rail project is all set to get an impetus, with former District Collector A. P. M. Mohammed Hanish being appointed as the Special Officer for land acquisition. He will continue to be the MD of Roads and Bridges Development Corporation of Kerala. The State government has entrusted Mr. Hanish with the task of hastening the pace of land acquisition.

The Haryana Government on Friday approved extension of Delhi Metro railway from Mundka to Bahadurgarh.

Talking to media persons after a Cabinet meeting, Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda said the State Government would spend Rs. 788 crore on this project including a contribution of Rs. 152 crore as grant towards one-third equity of the Delhi segment. Nearly 500 jhuggi dwellers from eight slum tenements on Wednesday became proud owners of their dwelling units, at least on paper, as they were presented with allotment letters to their houses at a function at Delhi Secretariat. New Delhi The government on Monday set up a two-member expert panel to fix responsibility for the defects found in the capital’s Airport Express Line, which was closed on July 8. There is an ongoing dispute between Reliance Infrastructure and Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) over the technical problem.

With Reliance Infra and DMRC blaming each other and no immediate solution in sight, it is unlikely the line would reopen by August-end as promised earlier by the Delhi government.

Electricity and Transport Minister Aryadan Mohammed on Tuesday said that the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) will execute the Kochi metro rail project work. Addressing a press conference soon after the last director board meeting of Kochi Metro Rail Ltd, in its current format, Mr. Mohammed said the Cabinet had in the month of March decided that the construction work should be bestowed on the DMRC.
