BHUBANESWAR: The State Government has decided to spend Rs 271 crore on rural water supply scheme to avert crisis during summer which will be dry and harsh, according to forecast.

The people of Chikkaballapur and Kolar districts are reeling under the scarcity of water. Without irrigation facility, the farmers of both the districts are facing a lot of hardships, said Chikkaballapur district BJP President N M Ravinarayana Reddy.

Speaking to mediapersons here on Wednesday, the BJP leader said both the districts are facing acute drinking water shortage.

Rajasthan Governor Prabha Rau on Monday said the State Government was keen to solve the problems of the common people. She said it was giving top priority to augmenting resources for providing drinking water, electricity and health service.
