Iron ore exports from Karnataka are likely to fall 67 per cent in the year to end in March 2011 due to a ban on exports that has hit supplies to the global market and hardened prices, according to a trade body official.

Sesa Goa on Thursday approached the Supreme Court challenging the ban imposed by the Karnataka government on transport and export of iron ore.

A bench headed by Justice R V Raveendran sought reply from the state government as to why it should not be asked to revoke the ban.
