Owning a flat may seem a far-fetched idea to the common man but Haryana’s ‘Affordable Policy 2013’ is set to change all that. With the Cabinet giving its nod to a policy for mass availability of dwelling units at rates that are easier on the common man’s pocket, a 500 sq ft flat will now cost Rs 20 lakh in the high potential towns of the state.

Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda said Tuesday the state government is preparing a “Master Development Plan-2031” for Faridabad and assured industry all its present problems will be addressed by it.

Haryana is considering introducing a Mono rail between Faridabad and Gurgaon, which will further accelerate the pace of development in the area, Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda said on Sunday.

Seeking to justify the recent hike in power tariff, the Delhi Government said the sector should be looked at "realistically" as the cost of raw materials have increased and that tariff in the capital is "much less" than those in other major cities. "Unless the power sector is looked at realistically, the situation in the sector will not improve. The cost of raw materials have increased. The price of coal has increased," Power Minister Haroon Yusuf said.
