This application was filed by the state of Goa seeking extension of time for finalizing Coastal Zone Management Plan (CZMP). The matter was getting delayed for a long time. The NGT said that repeated extensions were given earlier.

The court was informed that the delay was due to National Centre for Sustainable Coastal Management (NCSCM).

The issue for consideration is the remedial steps for protection of ecology of Western Ghats, which is an eco-sensitive area. The NGT observed that there was demand for more and more exclusion by those who claim the need for ‘development’ while need for ‘environment protection’ does not allow acceptance of such demands. This aspect needed to be finalized and had been pending consideration for the last eight years.

Order of the National Green Tribunal in the matter of Bainguinim Citizens Forum Vs Goa Waste Management Corporation & Others dated 24/09/2020. The Appeal has been preferred against environmental clearance (EC) granted in favour of Goa Waste Management Corporation on January 6, 2020 for proposed establishment of 250 TPD Solid Waste Management Facility at Bainguinim Taluka, North Goa. It was said that the project site was against the siting criteria laid down under the Solid Waste Management Rules, 2016.

Groundwater is a dynamic and replenishable precious natural resource. It requires to be monitored regularly and also to be appraised of the changes that are taking place in this regime. In this regard, Central Ground Water Board collects the groundwater level and quality data from the Groundwater Regime Monitoring Stations.

Interim report by National Biodiversity Authority (NBA) in compliance to the National Green Tribunal order of March 18, 2020. The matter relates to formation of Biodiversity Management Committees (BMCs) and preparation of People's Biodiversity Registers (PBRs) and to utilize funds under CAMPA and constitute a State level PBR Monitoring Committee for all the local bodies of the states. NGT had also directed the defaulting states to deposit Rs. 10 lakhs per month starting from February 1, 2020 to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) till such time, the task was fully completed.
