STEEL giant ArcelorMittal, after facing stiff resistance at Khunti-Gumla area of Jharkhand for the proposed 12 mtpa greenfield project, is now contemplating to shift its site to some other location.

Considering the potential of works carried out under NREGA for strengthening the livelihood resource base of marginalized groups of people provides good linkages with other development initiatives so that the coordinated work can lead them for sustainable livelihood support.

Faced with resistance over land acquisition for its proposed projects in Torpa-Kamdara, steel behemoth ArcelorMittal is exploring possibilities outside Khunti district.

A nine-member central team today arrived here to assess the extent of drought damage in the state.

The team, headed by managing director of Horticulture Mission Board Bijay Kumar, will visit Dumka, Lohardaga, Latehar, Palamau, Gumla, Jamtara, Jasidih, Deoghar, Giridih, Chatra and Garhwa districts from tomorrow.
