Small and medium enterprises (SMEs) engaged in poultry farming in Haryana will soon use poultry litter to generate power for the state power grid.

Chandigarh: The Haryana Power Generation Corporation Limited (HPGCL) has decided to tap the vast solar energy potential of the country by venturing into the field of solar power generation.

The Haryana government has drawn up a Rs.2 crore (Rs.20 million) plan to set up solar power plants at the Haryana Raj Bhawan here and collectorate offices in 10 of the state's districts.

Chandigarh: The Haryana government plans to generate power from biodegradable waste like kitchen waste, garden waste, horticulture waste and animal fallings.

By mid-2012, both Gurgaon and Faridabad can expect to have their power woes resolved. The multi-crore World Bank project for strengthening and augmenting the power distribution system of the Dakshin Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam (DHBVN) will improve the existing power situation in Gurgaon, Faridabad and Charkhi Dadri.

Power transmission in the state has entered a new phase with everything ready for the first-ever transmission project in the country with viability gap funding (VGF) by the central government.

The project will be the first in Haryana with VGF in the public-private partnership (PPP) mode.
