AHMEDABAD: National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has belted out 543-km four lane bonanza for Gujarat. These will mainly connect port towns and major cities of state with the rest of the country. Four-laning will be carried out on NH-6,59,8A and 8D.

Mumbai: Karnala bird sanctuary, some 60 km south-west of Mumbai, is on verge of being destroyed after the state wildlife board approved widening of national highway 17.

The board, which met after one and a half years on Friday, passed a resolution despite strong objection from some members.

DURGAPUR, Feb. 15: Asansol Durgapur Development Authority (ADDA) would soon construct a highway between Raniganj and Bankura with financial assistance from World Bank. The chairman of ADDA, Mr Bansogopal Chowdhury, said this while inaugurating a highway hub at Raniganj today.

THE government has decided to set up an expert panel to monitor World Bank funded road sector projects implemented by the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI). The proposed committee will have independent professionals from finance, legal and technical streams.

THE steel ministry has asked National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) to expand the road network in Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh, Orissa and West Bengal keeping in mind the massive growth of steel production in these states by 2011-12. It estimates that the traffic load on the highways will jump from 125 million tonnes to 234 million tonnes in the next three years.
