NHAI alters bid process, project terms to lower risk for potential investors.

After failing to get bids for over half of its highway projects last year, the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has decided to put up 19 highway projects worth Rs 23,805 crore for rebidding next month through a new short-listing process.

PROJECTS being executed under the public-private partnership (PPP) model will soon be put under an independent regulator who will take away the burden from government agencies that are often found wanting in cutting delays and ensuring project quality.

The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has prepared the structural designs of Kashmir Highway and Khayaban-e-Margalla and Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani will inaugurate these two projects next month.
