Ludhiana: Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal has included names of four members from the industry in the high-level committee constituted for fixing norms at inlet and outlet of common effluent treatment plants to be set up in Ludhiana.

Following recent warning by Chief Minister Raman Singh to polluting industries, the State Government has served closure notices to 15 steel making units based at Urla, Siltara and Borjhara industrial areas of Raipur, for allegedly violating pollution control norms.

The pollution control board has cracked down on three multinational companies. Three Phase-2-based companies have been served with notices for not putting in place scrubber systems. The notices have been sent on the receipt of complaints from the district administration, it is learnt.
