The interactions of methyl orange and two benzidine type azo dyes, Congo Red and Direct Blue 1, with some strong polycations with variable charge densities, having cationic centers in the side chain, were investigated.

Tannin degrading microbes isolated from tannery effluents were tested for their ability to degrade vegetable tannins in tannery effluents, along with other polluting parameters in the effluents like Biochemical Oxygen Demand (BOD), Chemical Oxygen Demand (COD) and Total Dissolved Solids (TDS).

Anaerobic treatment has gained tremendous success over the past two decades for treatment of industrial effluents. Over the past 30 years, the popularity of anaerobic wastewater treatment has increased as public utilities and industries have utilized its considerable benefits.

The paper mill effluent amended with basal medium supports the growth of Pleurotus sajorcaju and removes the colour.
