The borewells are deeper, enabling polluted water to mix with the groundwater.

Allegations in this application, inter-alia, are that there is encroachment of parks in green areas in Block C of Sushant Lok, Phase I, Gurgaon. Illegal extraction and supply of ground water which is contaminated is taking place. There is absence of water harvesting system. There is absence of sewerage treatment plant. The sewerage of the area connects the storm water drain.

NGT directs all the schools and colleges to install rainwater harvesting systems, if not already installed, within a period of two months from today at their own cost. Any institution which does not comply with these directions shall be liable to pay a environmental compensation of Rs.
