As a part of efforts of Madhya Pradesh State Cooperative Dairy Federation for enhancing milk production, 15,000 mini kits are being distributed among milk producer farmers free of cost during rabi season under the Centre's mini kit testing programme.

Production of green fodder will be possible in about 2,500 acres of land after distribution of these kits, an official release said here today.

With four more person succumbing to swine flu, the death toll due to the disease has risen to 71 in Madhya Pradesh, official sources said today.

Pankaj Mahto (26) succumbed to the viral disease at Chirayu Hospital yesterday, while Neetu Chouhan (28) and Shivlal (46) died at Hamidia Hospital.

With authorities confirming two more swine flu deaths, the official toll in the H1N1 outbreak in Madhya Pradesh spiraled to 57 on Thursday.

The two deaths confirmed on the day included one each in Bhopal and Indore, taking the number of swine flu fatalities in the two cities to 25 and 19, respectively.

Due to irregularities and lack of planning, water in the dams has been going above its capacity. As a result the excess water of dams is released causing destruction in other parts. This season, the gates of the Tawa dam on Tawa river were opened twice and water released in the Narmada river. This led to rise in the level of Narmada river by 13 feet, and created a flood situation.

More than 1,65,000 vials of spurious oxytocin were seized from medical stores in Sagar district's Bina town in the first week of this month, police said here today.

Oxytocin - misused for enlarging watermelon, gourd, brinjal, cucumber etc besides enhancing milk production in animals - is available in the market for Rs 15 per vial while the fake ones were being sold for 50 paise.
